“We are working with Microsoft to ensure ShareGate Migrate no longer requires EWS.”

Microsoft Exchange Web Services (EWS) change and impact on mailbox migrations | ShareGate help (2026-09-18), read 2026-10-22.

What to do. ShareGate Migrate uses EWS only for Copy mailboxes, and ShareGate says it is working with Microsoft to remove that need. Add the app ID ce9858bf-0093-4723-9742-3af3b3c5e25a to EwsAllowedAppIDs in both the source and the destination tenant. Mailboxes on Kiosk, F1 or F3 licenses need a license with EWS rights, such as Exchange Online Plan 1, before they are migrated.
